Summary
The Healthy Lifetime Program (HL) is a business entity within the School of Nursing that provides top-of-class services to older adults to support optimum health and independence in aging. The program is completely virtual, including the continuing education of nurses who provide the services; therefore, the program is not bound to geographic locations for service provision. The business offers `direct to consumer programming that integrates the School of Nursing faculty as providers and students as learners to fulfill curricular requirements. The HL program also contracts with other business entities to support their use of the program through licensing and other contractual agreements.

Healthy Lifetime (a University of Michigan startup) is seeking to hire a highly motivated and experienced Data Scientist who manages audio data and unstructured text. The candidate must be able to train advanced AI models, build and support cloud infrastructure for training and testing AI models, develop back-end services, and deploy front-end applications leveraging pre-trained AI models.

This is a full-time, term-limited position due to the source of salary funding for up to one (1) year. Support for this position will end if/when the Healthy Lifetime program ends. The target salary range for this position $79,000 ? $100,000/year, please note a higher salary may be offered based on equity and the selected candidate's experience.?

Responsibilities*
Analyze, manage, and visualize heterogeneous datasets comprising audio data, unstructured text, assessment rubrics, psychological treatment results, and therapeutic interview outcomes using advanced computational data science, statistical, and ML/AI techniques.
Develop, train, test, and optimize AI models that deliver insights from our complex datasets.
Build and maintain cloud infrastructure for training and testing AI models.
Work closely with our development team to build and deploy user-friendly front-end applications that utilize these trained AI models.
Continuously monitor AI model performance and troubleshoot any challenges to ensure optimal efficiency.
Interact with multiple teams and partners to develop a deep understanding of our users' needs and translate these into technical solutions.
Follow data protection regulations and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Supervision is received from the Director of the Healthy Lifetime Program (HL). It will have some scientific collaboration with the Associate Director for Education and Training the Michigan Institute for Data Science.

Required Qualifications*
Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (Master's degree preferred) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
Five (5) years of experience in a similar role.
Extensive experience working with audio data, unstructured text, natural language processing, and text mining.
Proficiency with AI algorithms and models, focusing on Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
Strong knowledge in cloud computing, preferably with experience using popular services like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience in building and deploying front-end applications.
Strong programming skills, especially in Python, R, or Java.
Excellent problem-solving skills, algorithm development expertise, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team.
