This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you an open education enthusiast, keen to explore opportunities to embed open education practices at the University of Leeds?  If so we would love to hear from you!

The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world.  We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities.  Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

At the heart of our University’s strategy, “Universal Values, Global Change”, is an ambition to work collaboratively with others to ensure that the benefits of our University’s research and education contribute to a sustainable and more equitable society.  The University is a founding member of the Knowledge Equity Network through which it will work with others to increase the levels of openness in education and research.  To support this ambition the University is making significant investments in digital infrastructure and the Libraries are keen to explore the role that they can play in supporting the digital production and curation of open education resources across the institution.

We are now seeking to recruit an Open Education Resources Officer who will play a pivotal role in shaping the institutional approach to open education resources. Reporting to the Associate Director for Content and Discovery and working closely with the University’s Professor for Open and Digital Education, you will work with academic colleagues and educational technologists across the University to review and evaluate existing digital resource production practices.  You will also explore and recommend options to promote the adoption of open practice principles for the development, sharing and curation of existing and future digital materials as open education resources.  This will involve looking at practice across the sector in the UK and beyond.

You will have an excellent understanding of and commitment to the principles of open education along with an excellent working knowledge of education resource production and curation.  You’ll have strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills along with experience of building effective relationships with key stakeholders.  You’ll also be able to work collaboratively with others but also be confident working under your own initiative.
