Rider University is seeking a skilled Web Designer to execute web development projects, including design, performance, front-end functionality, mobile friendliness and user experience. This position will also ensure ongoing web site maintenance, regulatory requirements, quality assurance testing, documentation and accessibility compliance. The ideal candidate will build new web pages and forms, maintain Drupal sites, implement design layouts, and provide training and technical support to users of the university’s content management system. The position will work with an internal team to ensure an effective, visually appealing, and intuitive implementation of current and new websites.

Position Requirements

Bachelors Degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
Two to three years’ experience in web design, graphic design, electronic publishing or related position.
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, or other visual design and wire-framing tool
Proficiency in HTML, PHP, CSS, and JavaScript as well as standards for consistent user experience of website and pages, graphic design principles and practices.
Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
Up-to-date with the latest Web trends, techniques, and technologies
A strong understanding of content management systems, Drupal preferred.
Proficiency using Google Analytics.
Basic knowledge of search engine optimization best practices.
Experience balancing multiple project workloads simultaneously and working effectively with individuals and teams within a diverse environment.
Evidence of customer service skills.
Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills.
Evidence of critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Familiarity with coding for accessibility preferred.
Experience working in a higher education setting preferred.
