Position Description

The Department of Dance at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor of Dance for the SPRING 2024 semester beginning January 22, 2024, and ending on April 26, 2023. This position is to teach Music for Dance and Dalcroze Education.

Position Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach an intermediate level of music for dance class that represents a robust 21st century approach to a healthy dance practice. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach the necessary vocabulary to analyze, develop, and communicate musical ideas allowing students to explore the basic elements of music through the study of rhythmic structures, fundamental music theory, critical analysis of compositions & choreography of various genres, and experiential activities that combine music & movement. Applicants will also be expected to teach elementary musical notation, scoring, and accompaniment skills needed by dancers.  Demonstrate ability to be inclusive in dance to create environments for all students. Professional music performance career and professional or higher education teaching experience required. 

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Applicants who are fluent in both Western and Non-Western music forms are preferred
