Job Description

Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at theBeckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

A Research Associate II position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Defu Zeng. One of the research projects in the Zeng lab is to understand the pathogenesis of GVHD, in which donor T cells infiltrate the target tissues and mediate damage. Based on the clinical features, GVHD can be divided into acute and chronic GVHD. New immunosuppressants have been effective in preventing acute but not chronic GVHD. The latter remains the major cause of morbidity and mortality of long-term survivors of classical HCT, and there has been no improvement in treating chronic GVHD over the past three decades, due to the poor understanding of its pathogenesis. For more information on Dr. Zeng’s lab please visit here.

As a successful candidate, you will:

· Closely work with PI on dissecting the pathogenesis of steroid-resistant gut graft versus host disease (SR-Gut-GVHD) as well as developing novel therapies for the disease.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree. Masters degree preferred

· 2+ years of related research/laboratory experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 1+ year related research/laboratory experience with a Master’s degree.

· Working experience on preclinical murine models of graft versus host disease (GVHD).
