Job Description

Position Summary
The Cloud Engineer participates in short- and long-term strategic planning for the University’s public cloud while maintain the overall public cloud health and security. Provide technical leadership in design, development, installation and maintenance of various cloud services. Maintain and improve cloud services and be able to recommend security and cost saving improvements. As subject matter expert of public cloud services will address escalated tier 3 issues by providing technical support, advice, and recommendation to stakeholders on availability, access and security of various public cloud services. Analyze malfunctions, troubleshoot complex problems, identify the root cause of the issue and resolve it in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with technical & non-technical management. Monitor cloud systems for performance and security; implement system policies to adhere with university policies and standards; and research and recommend configurations for new systems based on vendor and industry trends and contacts.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, or information technology

Required Experience:
5+ years of experience in public cloud for mid-size to large organization.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years of relevant experience with experience working in a hybrid cloud environment. Advanced knowledge of virtual systems, network, security integration services and scripting languages.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong experience with cloud related services (AWS, Azure, Google). Experience supporting an integrated computing environment. Strong experience supporting multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux). Strong knowledge of various cloud services models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS). Experience with networking fundamentals including an understanding of TCP/IP (IPv4), DNS, and load balancing services. Understanding of security related services and protocols (IPSec, VPN, SSL, TLS). Analytical, problem solver, and logical thinker possessing excellent communication & interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of network communication and related TCP/IP services. Authentication protocols and other methods of providing security for passwords and multi-factor authentication, common scripting or programming languages such as JSON, python. Relevant professional certifications such as AWS, Microsoft, ITIL, TOGAF.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $112,000.00 to USD $132,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
