Job Description

Position Purpose
Individuals within the Infrastructure Engineer role are responsible for the automated operations of secure and highly available applications, computing platforms, servers, and storage systems. Working as part of a highly motivated team they install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the College’s operating environments on-premises and with various cloud service providers. They maintain the ongoing automation, reliability, performance, and support of the infrastructure which includes automated configuration management, monitoring, responding to incidents, problems and planning for growth.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
0 to 3 years of experience supporting production networks
Ability to work self-motivated and independently with limited supervision
Ability to thrive and be productive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Familiarity with at least one of the following areas of specialization:
Routing and switching
Wireless
VoIP

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible
Familiarity with a programming language such as Python
Experience with one or more network platforms, such as Cisco IOS or Junos

Key Accountabilities
Description
Network Operational Management

Makes configuration changes as per client requirements.
Applies corrective solutions for faults.
Improves existing network implementations.
Performs software and hardware upgrades as part of regularly scheduled maintenance.
Supports the production network automation solutions and teachers partners in their use.
Troubleshoots issues and responds to incidents as part of a scheduled 24×7 on-call rotation.
Works with senior engineers to verify functionality of new network designs, and assists with their implementation.

Collaboration & Relationship Management

Works with stakeholders to implement networks in new building construction and major renovations.
Participates in the review of requirements of network connected equipment.
Participates in cross-functional teams with network dependencies.
Validates partner technology for interoperability with the campus network.
Teachers partners in the use of network automation solutions.
