Summary

This position is to aid in the tasks and functions that are required for running an academic research laboratory. Candidate will engage regularly with lab members and lab manager to complete basic tasks related to experiments, clerical work, laboratory organization, file and record maintenance, and general assistance. Candidate should be self-motivated and able to work both as a member of a team as well as independently.

Job Duties

  • Makes laboratory solutions and media.
  • Autoclaves and returns laboratory glassware and other clean items to their place
  • Assists in organization and catalogs general lab consumables as well as precious samples.
  • Performs general custodial duties of the laboratory including cleaning instruments, routine lab maintenance tasks, pouring plates, preparing items for sterilization etc.
  • Assists graduate students in small tasks related to projects.
  • Organizes tissue slides.
  • Sorts recycling, wipes counters, window sills, spot-mops floor in break room, laboratory, and equipment rooms.
  •  Assists in data collection and records.
  •  Sorts and restocks laboratory consumables.
  • Supports researchers in small tasks when asked.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
  • No experience required.
