Position Description

The Department of Performing Arts at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor of Ballet for the remainder of the current thirteen-week spring semester. This position is to teach Ballet II on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:10pm-2:40pm  on Rider’s Lawrenceville, NJ campus. 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in dance, musical theatre, or related discipline or equivalent professional experience (ex: professional ballet or other dance company, Broadway, etc.)
  • The ideal candidate will be an individual with innovative ideas about the teaching and practice of dance technique, as well as a commitment to interdisciplinary inquiry and body-positive, equitable learning practices within a dance studio.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in inclusive approaches in the area of balletic technique with specific attention to the training of future performers. 
  • Minimum one year of demonstrated teaching experience at the university/college level, company or studio.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching ballet at various levels, and within a studio setting comprised of generally varied technical skillsets within the general level placement.

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Master’s degree in dance, musical theatre, or related discipline
