Job Description

Responsibilities*
You will develop and improve and improving computational approaches including but not limited to single cell or single nuclear RNAseq analysis to answer key biological questions, deliver novel, testable hypotheses relating to renal disease including the identification of biomarkers of disease progression and renal failure using various clinical endpoints, identification of disease specific biomarkers and molecular mechanisms, the identification of novel targeting opportunities.
You will distill complex computational approaches and results into key actionable recommendations and acts as liaison with other departments, divisions, and outside organizations.
You will develop, design, and conduct bioinformatics research experiments in the field of renal failure research with a focus on delivering results in national and international collaborations. Formulate research methods and suggests options for improving quality, identifies potential problems, recommends and implements solutions, and collaborates in the development of new research and analysis techniques.
You will coordinate data collection, screening and verification before s/he conducts the data-analysis, interprets the results to add biological meaning and implements an appropriate research methodology based on the outcome of the analysis.
You will take part in publications and occasionally present results at conferences.
You will contribute to the day-to-day research operations; evaluating, demonstrating and recommending technology and software solutions to optimize productivity within the Core.

Required Qualifications*
Senior

MS with expertise in computational biology and bioinformatics, or bachelors degree in a related field with at least 1 year of practical experience.
Experience and familiarity with standard bioinformatics software, packages and documentation (e.g. R, Python, Jupyter Notebook, GitHub).
Ability to act as a scientific liaison between the Applied Systems Biology Core and the academic and pharmaceutical-industry research community.
Dedicated to team science and able to work independently and effectively interact with a very diverse team of researchers both locally and internationally.
Intermediate

Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position
Associate

Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position
Experience in at least two domains characteristic of the bioinformatics, including at least one biological/biomedical/clinical science and one quantitative/informatics/computing science, with aptitude for others.
Desired Qualifications*
Senior

PhD with related experience in computational biology and translational science.
Experience and familiarity with Single-cell RNA sequencing analysis (e.g. Seurat packages or Granatum).
Expertise in integrating and analyzing multidimensional genomic and transcriptomic data with clinical parameters and endpoints in human diseases, preferably kidney diseases.
Project Management Experience: manages project timelines and customer expectations to produce clear, high-quality project deliverables.
