Summary
The Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences department is looking for a part-time administrative professional to provide primary administrative support to the Director of the Center for High Energy Density Laboratory Astrophysics Research (CHEDAR). This position will perform a variety of administrative support duties for CHEDAR investigators, staff, post-docs, and graduate students.

Responsibilities*
Provide administrative support to the Center Director. This includes creating meeting agendas as necessary, providing appropriate meeting preparation materials based on meeting objectives, and tracking follow-up activities. Assist with the director's calendar.
Plan and coordinate events, conferences, workshops and seminars. This includes venue selection, contract negotiations, food and catering decisions, and other event logistics. Many of these conferences will require coordination with outside entities, such as with the Department of Energy, and may involve travel to specific events.
Schedule and maintain the Center's calendar of meetings, seminars, special events and travel. Facilitate domestic and international travel arrangements for the Center Director, staff, students, and guests.
Assist with financial activities for the CHEDAR group including purchasing, P-card reconciliations, and expense reimbursements. The person in this position must understand what is being purchased (equipment, supplies, travel, etc.), the business purpose, and make sure it is procured using the correct process and correct funds in collaboration with department staff.
Provide administrative support to the Center Director, research fellows, staff and graduate students.
Maintain the Center web site using Word Press. Collect and organize input for the website.
Other related tasks at the discretion of the Center Director.
Required Qualifications*
High school education with 2-4 years administrative experience
Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects and demands
Proven success working independently as well as part of a team and exercise good judgment and decision making
Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy required
Proficient use with Microsoft 365, Google, and Zoom
Desired Qualifications*
Experience working in an academic research environment with considerable knowledge of travel and hosting procedures
Experience coordinating events, conferences, meetings, and workshops
Proficient use in Adobe Creative Cloud software and Word Press
Experience with University of Michigan database management and reporting systems (MPathways, PeopleSoft, Concur)
Working knowledge of University of Michigan policies and procedures
