The Director Academic Support Services, under the direction of the Senior Director or above, provides leadership and guidance for a university department.

Responsible for overseeing day to day operation (planning, scheduling, and organization) for the Brooks College of Health Advising unit.
Responsible for ensuring availability and accessibility of high-quality academic advising services on a daily basis to current and prospective students.
Overall responsibility for the coordination and delivery of college specific advisor and staff training.
Ensures ongoing communication among staff regarding pertinent updates and dissemination of critical and relevant information.
Utilizes available resources to support staff in professional development activities.
Administrative oversight for the end of term processing to include: probation/suspension and graduation certification.
Participation on relevant university and college-wide committees in various capacities.
Responsible for the development and delivery of new initiatives as appropriate.
Responsible for ensuring department participation in college and university recruitment activities.
Responsible for all compliance and reporting.
Responsible for accreditation activities such as SACS.
Oversee an on-line program coordinator manage all administrative aspects of advising from helping with admissions, registration, term processing, graduation, etc. pertaining to on-line modular programs and will work with Center for Instruction and Research Technology to maintain excellent customer service for on-line students.
Manage all advising staff to provide the best services possible to students and lead high impact advising practices.
Ensure that the advising office is a welcoming, student-centered space where each student is treated with care and excellence.
Build partnerships with Career Services, Student Academic Success Services, Student Persistence, and other internal units to promote student success and retention across the university.
Provide ongoing support and professional development for staff members so that each advisor’s strengths are acknowledged and valued; Identify areas of staff members for improvement or career development and establish goals for the unit and individual team members.
Develop and track group advising sessions and evaluate their efficacy and continuous improvement.
Oversee the screening, hiring, and training of advisors as necessary.
Manage processes and ensure accuracy of undergraduate referrals, petitions, pre-certifications and graduation clearances, Prerequisite Deficiency Lists, suspension and probation lists, electronic permissions, NCAA certification, and student handouts. Ensure that these processes are completed in a timely and effective manner and make recommendations for improvements to processes.
Represent the UNF academic advising on committees and at meetings as requested.
Assign staff to participate in University events, such as freshmen orientations, open house events, scholarship fairs, etc.
Serve as liaison to articulation office at UNF and local education partners as needed.
Review and manage UNF catalog information each year to ensure that updates, corrections, and additions are consistent with department curricula as approved by Faculty Association.
Ensure that student issues or complaints are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
Advise students and assist staff with advising duties.

Required Qualifications
This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and six years of experience directly related to the job functions; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and eight years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 12 years of direct experience.

Campus Security Authority (CSA) This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that your responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make you someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSAs responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session.
