The Office of Information Technology Services at Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the position: IT Telecommunication and Cable Technician. Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Network and Telecommunications, the IT Telecommunication and Cable Technician performs telecommunications and networking equipment installation and maintenance of the University’s voice & data networks with an emphasis on installation of wiring and networking equipment as well as cable TV wiring and equipment. Maintains proficiency in LAN/WAN hardware and current wiring standards. Collaborates effectively with other ITS units including resource management and various University departments to provide high-quality customer oriented technical services to the University community based on established customer portfolios and service level agreements and success standards as well as maximize efficiency and effectiveness of resources. This is an on-site position.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Installs, maintains, and repairs building wiring and network equipment. Troubleshoots wiring problems in all campus locations including residence halls and remote locations. Moves, changes, and adds telephone peripherals.
· Installs and troubleshoots television cable and wiring, maintains equipment, and performs system maintenance (including IP TV) for various departments and University stakeholders.
· Maintains work order records of wiring and equipment installations. Works with other Telecommunications/ network staff in a ‘team approach’ for providing service and support.
· Assists with doors access, alarm systems and two-way radio equipment and services as necessary. Sets up technology resources for special events as necessary.
· Maintains current knowledge of network wiring standards as well national, state, and local fire codes. Maintains current knowledge of cable wiring as well.
· Provides exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors, and the community at large.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and experience in information technology, electronics technology systems, or other related areas is required. An associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience. Three (3) years of related experience and/or training are preferred.

IT Technician II (AM71/61122035/FTE-S00969P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $37,860.00 (minimum) – $53,957.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Flexible work hours to include occasional night and weekend hours. Some local travel is required. Information confidentiality is highly critical. Must be able to carry items more than 25 pounds.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of related experience and/or training.
Licensure and/or Certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiency in enterprise level installation of building wiring and network hardware. Knowledge of industry wiring standards such as EIA/TIA T586A and national, state, and local fire codes. Experience with Server operating systems such as Windows Server or UNIX, knowledge of network hardware such as router, bridges, and ethernet switches, door access, or voice messaging and telephone systems. Experience working in an academic environment. Experience working with fiber optics and related equipment. Experience with cable tv wiring, installation, and maintenance. Professional certifications such as Network + or Cisco are highly desirable.

Flexible work hours are required to include night and weekend hours. Some local travel is required.
