Rider University is seeking a Director of The Center for Diversity & Inclusion to join Academic Affairs. Reporting to the Chief Diversity Officer & Director of the Teaching and Learning Center, the Director serves as the primary lead in student diversity, equity, and inclusion leadership engagement.  The Director of the Center for Diversity & Inclusion provides vision, leadership, and management for the physical space and programmatic outreach efforts that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion for students on campus, supporting marginalized, underrepresented, and underresourced students and advancing intercultural competency for all students and serving as a resource for faculty and staff who are seeking to support diverse students and facilitate inclusive environments. Reporting directly to the Chief Diversity Officer, the Director will be central to developing a campus-wide approach to enhancing excellence through diversity and inclusion of students, faculty, staff, and the broader community, and provide the necessary planning, structure, leadership, and direction for the full execution of a campus-wide diversity program.

Position Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a related field with 3-5 years’ experience in a related position.
  • Demonstrated professional work experience in leading diversity and inclusion efforts in higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of student development, organizational perspectives of inclusion work, and an appreciation of the complexities of inter/intra-cultural interaction.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, budgeting, and management skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver educational programming to students to address the complexities of privilege and oppression and appreciation of all aspects of social identity and their intersectionality.
  • Flexibility with work schedules is necessary, as weekends and evenings are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to be effective in working with a diverse student population.
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required 

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience developing, conducting, and evaluating comprehensive inclusion, diversity, and equity education or training programs and knowledge of leading practices for training and education in higher education settings.
  • An IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory) Qualified Administrator
  • DEI training certificate(s)/program completion
