Job Summary
The School of Fisheries, Aquaculture, & Aquatic Sciences at Auburn University is seeking candidates for a Financial Assistant.The individual in this position will assist with a variety of basic financial tasks for the School.

Essential Functions
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Assists the School’s Accountant with preparing and entering budget transfers, salary wage transfers, data error corrections, and bottom line transfers.

Prepares and maintains payroll budgeting: Researches and reconciles payroll issues; prepares and enters payroll corrections into Banner; posts individual payroll changes; prepares labor distribution changes; audits payroll changes for accuracy and proper funding; maintains payroll budgets for grants; maintains records and documentation to support changes made to effort.

Manages monthly account balance reports: Downloads monthly account balance reports from Banner; updates formulas and reports for new grants; distributes final product to Principal Investigators; assists in monitoring grant usage.

Tracks and transfers salary savings by Principal Investigator and fund (Division 1, Division 3, and Division 4).

Prepares, monitors, maintains, and distributes spreadsheets including: Fellowship & Associates, designated support, gift accounts, ACES monthly reports, and Hatch Match allocations and spending.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Level I: High school diploma or equivalent; no experience required.

Level II: High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in financial support services. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent within Auburn University.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills and have demonstrated ability to multi-task, set priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Technology Skills
Basic knowledge of standard office equipment and procedures.
Minimum License and Certifications
None Required.
Desired Qualifications
Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include:

Experience in preparing, examining, coding, entering, and processing forms, letters, vouchers, documents, and reports in a university setting.

Basic knowledge of grant workflow and Uniform Guidance Circular 200.

Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Familiarity with Auburn University administrative and financial policies, procedures and the AU Banner system.

COMPASS certification.
