Purpose: Access, Success, and Belonging helps units campus-wide foster practices that optimize the contributions of groups and individuals by supporting the engagement and development of all faculty, staff, students and patients.

In addition, ASB strives to provide institutional leadership focused on enhancing and maintaining belonging and success in learning, teaching, research and service at the Augusta University.

Job Summary

The Director of Access, Success, and Belonging (ASB) is a key leadership role reporting to the Associate Vice President of ASB. This position works to advance Belonging throughout the Augusta University community by managing the Office of Institutional Access, Success, and Belonging and serving as a resource to students, faculty, staff, institutional leadership, alums, and external stakeholders. The Director of ASB will work closely with our university resource groups, community partners, and colleagues across campus to deliver services and resources that foster human connection and community among faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work closely with the AVP to provide vision and direction to Belonging Champions across campus to carry out their essential functions within their respective units.
  • Spearhead the development and execution of comprehensive grant applications focused on fostering a sense of belonging within the community.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data, articulate impactful narratives, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Demonstrate a keen understanding of funding requirements and industry best practices to secure grants that support community engagement initiatives.
  • Design, implement, and support existing and new pathway programs that provide meaningful opportunities for community members to engage with our institution actively.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with local organizations and stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness. Continuously assess and refine pathway initiatives, ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and alignment with community needs.
  • Provide consultation and expertise to students, staff, faculty, or administrative/academic units experiencing concerns related to belonging in concert with Human Resources.
  • Represent the Office at campus and community events and provide administrative support for campus-wide Belonging efforts.
  • Direct and manage the Office operations and co-chair the comprehensive and representative council of university leaders to enhance institutional belonging within each college and division to advance a campus climate in which all students, faculty, administrators, and staff are welcomed, respected, valued, and supported.
  • Provide strategic guidance for campus and unit/college level office to develop and implement Belonging initiatives. Providing unit and college-level support with annual review and progress reporting. Coordinating efforts among the colleges/units across campus to increase efficiency, efficacy, and impact.
  • Develop and provide culturally inclusive educational opportunities based on research, literature, and best practices.
  • This is a supervisory role.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in higher education or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible full-time experience in Belonging and/or Learning and Workforce Development or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in higher education or applicable field and 5 years of experience in Belonging, Learning, and Development work-related work.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Experience with crisis management, strategic planning, supervision, student services, and fiscal planning.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

Ability to collaborate closely with students, faculty, staff, and senior administrators in Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Facilities, along with other senior leadership across campus.

KNOWLEDGE

Proven success in working collaboratively in developing the co-curricular learning experience and developing institutional partnerships focused on improving the quality of life for the broad-based student constituency.

Record of success in building strategic coalitions and serving as a connector across organizational and cultural boundaries.

SKILLS

Strong verbal communication skills to lead presentations and group discussions, assist with public relations, and foster interpersonal relationships.

Excellent management, human relations, and problem-solving skills while demonstrating a sophisticated understanding of student development theory and current trends in student affairs in higher education.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 23

Salary: $69,398 - $85,000

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
