The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

Works under the supervision of the Clerkship Director, manages the Office Specialist and the administrative support functions for the Emergency Medicine students/clerkship program. The Clerkship Coordinator will serve as the primary liason between the students, faculty, Curriculum Office and the AU campuses to include, Southeast, Southwest, Northeast, Northwest, Athens, and additional Augusta training sites (University Hospital and VA Medical Center). This position is responsible for managing, monitoring & reconciling the clerkship budget, organizing & scheduling medical students' schedules for their core clerkship and elective/selective courses, off campus rotations, setting up new off-campus sites for core clerkship and monitoring of student progress through faculty evaluations and reporting in One45 and Banner. The Clerkship Coordinator will oversee all daily activities of the clerkship, ensuring the program adheres to the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) standards. Will provide administrative support for the Clerkship Director, and two Assistant Clerkship Directors. This position will also serve as administrative support for the Global Health Initiative Director. Provides administrative support to the Clerkship Program Directors, two Assistant Directors.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

Coordinate daily functions of the Clerkship program and serve as primary point of contact; Coordinate monthly rotations through the Emergency Medicine Department and ensure all rotating students (medical, Physician Assistants (PA), and visiting or observing) meet all requirements at any of six regions with 16 possible learning sites (i.e completion of necessary paperwork, background checks, health screening); Responsible for communicating rotation information to students prior to and throughout rotations; Coordinate medical students' and PA students' schedule for their core clerkship through the department.

Provide Administrative Support to EM Clerkship Director and two Assistant Clerkship Directors; Duties include but not limited to calendar management, travel authorizations, reimbursements (travel and other), scheduling meetings, drafting formal letters and reports.

Work Collaboratively with the Academic Section, providing assistance during peak periods as needed; Work collaboratively with the Residency Coordinator during recruitment to ensure rotating military students interview during rotation and all other visiting students are offered interviews.

Supervise Office Specialist Position; Supervise, train and delegate tasks to the office specialist position for all duties pertaining to the Clerkship, to include observerships, evaluations, orientation and credentialing packet creation; provide necessary training to perform as backup.

Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 4 years professional or administrative experience to include a minimum of two years of educational program experience or similar experience; Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years' professional or administrative experience to include a minimum of four years' educational program experience or similar experience; OR High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a State or Federal accrediting organization and a minimum of ten years' professional or administrative experience to include six years' educational program experience or similar experience

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 4-year educational program or similar experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade: 15

Salary: $18.71 - $22.44

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
