The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, we provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond. The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice. All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility. We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.

Job Summary

With support from Senior Biomedical Engineering Technicians: Repair, calibrate, and maintain medical/dental equipment, instrumentation, and support systems used in dental healthcare delivery. Inspect, install, and perform inventory assessments and preventive maintenance of medical/dental equipment. Train dental providers, faculty, residents, students, and staff in the operation of the equipment in DCG facilities.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but not limited to:

SUPPORT and TRAINING: Supports patient diagnosis and treatment by installing, testing, calibrating and repairing biomedical equipment; training users; maintaining safe operations.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE: Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, conducting tests and troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions. Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions. Provides equipment operation demonstrations, instructing other healthcare staff in use and care of equipment and answering questions. Installs new equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating and testing performance. Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs.

SUPPLIES INVENTORY: Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.

OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accrediting organization with a minimum of three years of experience in electronic or applicable mechanical maintenance related trade.

OR

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in electronic technology.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical school training in biomedical equipment technology/related field (electronics, pneumatics, telecommunications, etc.). CBET (Certification-Biomedical Equipment Technician). Experience with AU standards and regulations. Previous medical or dental experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation.
Knowledge of the application and repair of computers and how they interface with medical/dental equipment.
Knowledge of current regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment.

Knowledge of color code conventions used in component and wiring marking.

SKILLS
Skill in testing electronic equipment.

ABILTIES
Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and mechanical equipment
Ability to perform preventive maintenance inspections, run diagnostic programs, interpret schematics, writing diagrams, and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instrumentations.
Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs, calibration, and tests.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F

Pay Grade: 12

Salary: Minimum $15.06/hour

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.
