Summary

The Department of Medicine is seeking an experienced Senior Business Operations Manager to lead the strategic direction of the sections of Gastroenterology and Hepatology to ensure the current and long-term business goals are met. Managing managers and professional staff, the Senior Manager will provide mentorship to the team across all missions and functional areas including research, education, clinical, and business operations. The Senior Manager will function as the dyad partner with the Section Chief to develop long-term strategic plans.

Job Duties

  • Manage the daily operations of the Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, including, human resources, clinical and research administration, compliance and financial management.
  • Manage section managers and professional staff including defining work responsibilities and prioritization, setting performance development plans and goals, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Develop, manage, and control the section budget. Establish financial and operational systems to monitor, control, and verify expenditures and carry out financial analyses.
  • Develop staffing plans and productivity guidelines according to budget availability and section needs. 
  • Develop and implement successful strategies for revenue growth and expense control.
  • Manage the human resources activities for the section, including hiring, terminations, salary, and disciplinary actions.
  • Actively collaborate with key department and College stakeholders to maximize effective business operations.
  • Formulate policies and guidelines for section activities.
  • Oversee or originate special projects or programs.
  • Oversee the sections research administration activities including managing the research administration team in the section.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in a related field with 5 years of relevant experience with 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • General business operations with clinical and research administration.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to gain the confidence of faculty, staff, leaders, colleagues, etc.
  • Executive presence, judgement, and positive personal track record in leading in a dynamic organization.
  • Dynamic and polished communication style and capability across all executive and management levels, displaying executive presence, savvy and collegiality.
  • Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in accepting work assignments with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, understand processes, and resolve issues.
  • Candidates will have a working interview to demonstrate knowledge of financial and research administration.
