College/Department Information

The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

This position will assist in administrative and technical work in support of a grant from the National Institutes of Health. They will work closely with stakeholders across the state of Georgia to conduct a statewide needs assessment and community-based intervention for women about hypertension. This position will be responsible for providing coordination between the research team, conducting interviews and focus groups across the state, and coordinating public health outreach. As Project Coordinator, s/he will provide logistical support to the project leadership. Other duties will include community outreach and engagement, project planning, project implementation, data collection, data entry, and careful, exact documentation within the contract/grant and institutional guidelines. It is expected that this position will include travel across the state for project implementation.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Schedule project visits
  • Timely follow-up with community partners
  • Data collection, entry, and quality control
  • Maintain project files
  • Coordinate grant activities in the community
  • Maintain outstanding relationships with community partners
  • Attend meetings with community partners
  • Attending staff training and project meetings.
  • Participate in planning and development of protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field and a minimum of five years of experience in public health and/or community outreach and/or applicable field.

Preferred Qualifications

MPH (preferred); experience and training in conducting and evaluating qualitative research; manuscript development, and community outreach and engagement across multiple communities

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Understanding of public health promotion and education, community engagement, familiarity with women's health needs in the state of Georgia. Experience and training in qualitative research methods. Ability to maintain confidentiality Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Detail-oriented.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 17

Salary Minimum: $44,967 - Midpoint: $60,000

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
