College/Department Information

The Office of the Dean of Students is dedicated to the holistic development of students at Augusta University by providing support and advocacy. Our Office encourages and inspires students to meet their full potential and coordinates the multidisciplinary Campus Assessment Response and Evaluation (CARE) Team, which provides centralized support, guidance, and intervention for students in the areas of food, financial, and emotional insecurities, medical and hardship withdrawals, mediation with fellow students, student conduct and behavior intervention, student concerns and complaints, and off-campus housing.

Job Summary

The CARE Case Manager for Off-Campus Housing is a collaborative member of the Office of the Dean of Students. The Case Manager is responsible for providing direct service, and empowerment-based advocacy with expertise regarding administrative options and resources for students. Supports student success, recruitment, and retention by coordinating services for students who plan to live off-campus and not in on-campus housing. Develops an understanding of commuter student needs, an understanding of what properties are most suitable for students, and develops relationships with property managers in the area. Collaborates with identified vendors that support off-campus housing. Collaborates with Admissions, Graduate Admissions, and the Parent and Family Association on information to be sent to admitted students and information to share with families. Will assist other CARE Case Managers as needed by providing ongoing support through regular student check-ins and referrals. Assists students and their families (as necessary) in navigating the University's processes, including any applicable policies and procedures. The Case Manager may serve as an active member of the CARE Team and assist with planning, outreach, and preparing reports for senior leaders and other campus partners.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING: Provides advocacy and support for students who wish to live off campus by offering resources and information valuable to students and their families. Understand and articulate to leadership what properties are most suitable for students. Develops relationships with property managers in the area. Work to develop and maintain an off-campus housing website--either developed at AU or outsourced to a vendor to include properties available to students, housing information and resources, roommate options, etc. Collaborate with Admissions, Graduate Admissions, and Parent and Family Association regarding information to be sent to students and their families. Host a housing fair at least annually to include many of the properties that are interesting to students. Develop resources and information specifically directed at commuter students that would promote their success. Lead call campaigns for students as deemed necessary and appropriate. Work with UPD to ensure locations of properties are in safe locations.

CASE MANAGEMENT: Work directly with students to identify and respond to concerns by presenting options to students, making appropriate referrals, and connecting students with the appropriate university department(s). Help students navigate institutional policies and processes, and discuss options based on each individual case. Empower students to take full advantage of the many university resources available to them. Seeks to assist students to become self-actualized members of the community and encourages a growth mindset. Assists students referred to the CARE Team for follow-up and provides information back to the CARE Team. May attend CARE meetings as necessary. Update the CARE database to make notes and manage student caseload.

OUTREACH: Assist the AVP, Dean of Students, and Associate Dean of Students as needed with outreach programs for the Office of the Dean of Students. Serve as a backup for Office processes, including but not limited to, medical and hardship withdrawal processes.

OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in related field and one year of experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from accredited college or university in counseling, social work, public health, health promotion, or related field. Experience in counseling, social work, health promotion, wellness, or related field.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days (Monday- Friday)

Pay Grade: 13

Salary: Minimum:$16.19/ hourly - Midpoint $ 21.85/ hourly

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
