Augusta University's College of Education and Human Development (COEHD), in response to recent enrollment growth, is seeking a Lecturer of Kinesiology in the Department of Kinesiology for a non-tenure track, part-time (0.5FTE) Lecturer position in Wellness and Activity. The primary responsibility will be teaching Wellness and Activity courses, updating courses as needed, and assisting in the development and improvement of those courses.

Responsibilities

Teaching
Developing and updating curriculum

Teaching undergraduate students in the Wellness and Activity classes

Manage courses through systematic use of syllabus. Keep accurate records of students' class performance, attendance, and grades

Adopt and implement common course objectives

Attend faculty orientation prior to the beginning of the semester

Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes

Other duties as assigned by Department Chair

Required Qualifications

A Masters degree in Kinesiology, Exercise/Sports Science, Health and Physical Education or a closely related field.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

-Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

-Evidence of ability as a teacher;

-Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

-Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

-Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter. Amount of time worked is based on work commitment.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is between 0.5-0.74 FTE and is considered partially benefits eligible. The FTE will be determined at the time of hire after discussions during the interview process with the successful candidate. The selected candidate will select from a retirement plan and accrue leave at a prorated amount based on finalized FTE.

Benefits include sick leave and generous retirement plans.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.

The Department of Kinesiology is one of three departments in the College of Education and Human Development, whose programs are accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities (SACS). The department offers a BSK with five specialized tracks, BS in Health Promotion with two concentrations, BA in Sports Management, and a MSK.
