What Your Job Will Be Like:

Lead an ES&H performance assurance event management/analysis program.

  • Provide daily guidance, tasking, and leadership to ESH professionals and matrix partners supporting the program area, including leading the program vision with alignment to other ESH and Corporate programs.
  • Provide direction, monitor the program area(s), and assign resources, as appropriate, to enable program success.
  • Serve as a causal analyst to evaluate complex issues, identify compensatory measures, and recommend corrective actions that will drive sustaining performance improvement.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate the ESH occurrence/event/issue reporting and tracking processes.
  • Participate in and facilitate event fact finding and causal analyses.
  • Write fact-finding and causal analysis reports.
  • Support ES&H performance assurance, which includes, but is not limited to: assessments, measures/metrics, occurrence management, issues management, and trending analysis.
  • Work to mentor and develop technical competencies for new or less experience team members.
  • Serve as the corporate authority and subject matter expert for corporate level processes.
  • Document and track system-level performance requirements and develop acceptance criteria for the system and any subsystems.
  • Employ a structured system approach that models the interactions between all components of the performance assurance system and ensures integration.
  • Drive progress and usher in periods of change by inspiring employees, earning trust for new ideas, and fostering confidence among the team and other stakeholders.
  • Lead change by establishing methodologies and approaches to improve or solve problems of significant and unusual complexity through use of ingenuity and innovation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to facilitate implementation of improvements aligned with mission and strategic objectives.
  • Document and track project risks and interfaces with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Facilitate and participate in assessment result causal analyses efforts.
  • Provide Performance Assurance Program status reports and programmatic data to executive leadership on various frequencies, as requested.
  • Maintain relationships with DOE program oversight at headquarters and the Sandia Field Office, and with colleagues at SNL and other DOE sites.
  • Use customer service skills, employ a consultative approach when providing guidance, and be able to make recommendations based on requirements and circumstances.
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders’ labs wide to ensure effective implementation and integration of ES&H Performance Assurance processes and applications.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor Degree in a STEM discipline or other relevant area, plus (8) or more years of relevant experience or combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

About Our Team:

The ES&H Assurance organization is responsible for providing an operating framework for implementing the prime contract and regulatory required ES&H elements of the Sandia Contractor Assurance System. This system is used to identify and manage risk, monitor performance, identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement, report deficiencies to the accountable managers, take preventive or corrective actions to improve performance, and share lessons learned for the ES&H functional area.
