What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking a R&D Space Systems Engineer to join our Global Burst Detector (GBD) IIIF Systems Engineering team. The selected applicant will fill a key role in the development, qualification, and delivery of the next generation satellite payload supporting the United States Nuclear Detonation (NUDET) Detection System (USNDS). We serve as the primary technical interface and system integrator to the USNDS stakeholder community for the next generation GBD payload. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Build trust-based relationships and partner with internal and external organizations. + Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and domain specialists in the successful resolution of system related issues. + Use systems engineering principles to identify and lead resolution to system level problems. + Provide critical review of designs, concepts, verification approaches, and verification data. + Brief management on the status of the GBD IIIF project Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite with an option for occasional work from home. Some travel may be required for this position. Qualifications We Require: + Master’s degree in a relevant STEM field plus one-year relevant experience; or bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus five years relevant experience. + Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance. Qualifications We Desire: + Proficiency with formal Systems Engineering process with a focus on the verification phase. + Self-motivated, positive, individual comfortable working in a diverse, fast-paced, results oriented environment. + Proven ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal). + Experience with realization and delivery of high rigor designs. + Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking and engineering principles when making technical decisions. + Experience within the Aerospace industry and Space systems. + Direct experience with the USNDS mission and GBD. + Experience working with any of the following organizations: National Nuclear Security Administration, Space Force, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and DoD contractors. + Active DOE Q clearance or active DOE L security clearance with ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance. About Our Team: The USNDS Deputy Program Manager department supports the Program Manager in directing USNDS programs which provide the U.S. capability to monitor the earth's atmosphere and surrounding space for nuclear detonations. The department supports project management, budget planning, and system engineering for USNDS projects. The department works with the military and government stakeholders to define requirements, funding, deliveries, and support for USNDS systems.
