College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
This position is designed to take a lead role in fostering research success in the Department of Emergency Medicine. This person will carry out and coordinate departmental research activities, including but not limited to submitting and managing research grants and contracts, coordinating clinical trials, overseeing compliant investigator initiated research, as well as participating directly in research (data collection, analysis and write up) for faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine and for faculty affiliated with the department.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Research Management
Coordinate and manage research including clinical trials and investigator initiated studies (observational studies, interventions, retrospective chart reviews etc.) by working with the Research Director and other faculty in the Department of Emergency as well as relevant departments enterprise wide.
Financial Management Related to Research
Maintain financials related to research in the department including but not limited to: internal grants, external grants, internal contracts, external contracts, purchase orders, invoices, monthly research accounts (iLabs, eSirius, etc.), travel reimbursement for research related tasks.
Research Compliance
Assist the Research Director and other faculty with establishing and maintaining a culture of excellence in research in the Department of Emergency Medicine by creating and upholding relevant policies and standard operating procedures. Use project and task tracking to document and disseminate research successes for internal and external communications as well as faculty evaluations and the EM Research website (e.g. by using BOX and project management software such as Teams)
Research Facilitation
Use and maintain proficiency in applications used to support research including but not limited to: IRBNet, OnCore, iLabs, eSirius, Clincard, eSProute, EMR, Endnote, DocuSign, Qualtrics, Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), grants.gov, and CITI.
Research Training
Obtain and maintain all necessary research certifications and credentials including but not limited to CITI training, biohazards training, and cybersecurity training and train other members in the department how to obtain and maintain necessary research credentials.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Ph.D. from an accredited college or university with a minimum of one year directly applicable experience; previous supervisory experience.
OR
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five years' progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience; or major coursework completed on a Ph.D. in a related scientific field with two years of progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of eight years' progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience.accredited college or university

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Grade: R16
Salary Minimum: $41,846.00/Annually - $58,584/Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
