Job Summary

Full cycle accountant responsible for general ledger transactions, journal entries, reconciliations, analysis and management reporting, audit requests documentation preparation, and coordination with the Foundation Fund Coordinator and Scholarship Coordinator. (Reporting to the Accounting Manager.)

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for recording Foundations general ledger daily transactional activity.
  • Responsible for reconciling balance sheet general ledger accounts as required (either daily, monthly, or annually). Track and report outstanding items from bank reconciliation over 60 days old.
  • Responsible for review and correction of Accounts Payable coding and descriptions daily.
  • Responsible for recording encumbrances and related releases of encumbrance daily in conjunction with the Foundation Funds Coordinator.
  • Responsible for recording transfers between donor funds and recording cash & investment transfers as necessary.
  • Responsible for preparation of required journal entries for month end close and year end close.
  • Responsible for reconciling Conditional Grant accounts and preparation of related journal entries for month end close and year end close.
  • Assist with 1099 preparation and 990 tax returns preparation annually.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by Accounting Manager and CFO.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or business-related field and three years of applicable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge accounting software and/or Blackbaud Raiser's Edge donor software.

Experience with Non-Profit or foundation organizations.

Experience with Higher Education organizations.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Competency and accuracy with accounting software. Ability to work independently to resolve issues. Ability to communicate professionally. Competency with email and Microsoft products; Excel, Word, Power Point. Ability to prioritize and handle deadlines. Well organized and detail oriented. Requires adaptability, good judgement, and initiative.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 16

Salary Minimum: $41,846 - Midpoint: $56,492

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
