Summary

Baylor College of Medicine, renowned for its world-class education of healthcare providers and scientists, boasts a global alumni network exceeding 28,000 individuals. The Alumni Affairs team is dedicated to enhancing alumni engagement and fostering strategic relationships that cultivate enduring philanthropic support for the institution. The Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs will play a pivotal role in executing the strategic engagement plan aimed at elevating alumni and student involvement. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Alumni Affairs.

 

Internal Title:  Development Associate; Working Title:  Assistant Director, Alumni Affairs

Job Duties

  • Assist with alumni and student engagement programs including the Alumni Student Ambassador Board, Alumni-Student Mentorship program, campus-based student engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with the Special Programs team to coordinate and execute engagement events such as alumni reunions, awards ceremonies, and regional receptions.
  • Collaborate Philanthropic Communication’s team to carryout key communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Data team, internal Baylor departments to update alumni contact information.
  • Serve as site manager for the alumni and student online community, BCM Alumni Connect.
  • Contribute to the identification and cultivation of alumni prospects, documenting donor-related activities.
  • Assist in shaping the overall annual plan and strategy for Alumni Affairs.
  • Represent the Alumni Affair’s team at alumni council meetings and key events.
  • Build meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders that eventually lead to philanthropic support.
  • Effectively communicate the mission and programs of the Alumni Affairs program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Business, Communications or other related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience in Alumni Affairs, development or related field.
  • Experience in the higher education or a medical education setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills required including the ability to manage multiple demands and projects.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Technical proficiency and knowledge (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud CRM).
  • Must reflect the values of Baylor College of Medicine at all times, with particular emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, integrity, and honesty.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for various meetings and events.
