Reporting to the Director of Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), this position provides primary leadership in overseeing CAP's training program. This position assists and contributes to program development and implementation, and supports the goals and mission of CAPS and the College. As a member of the clinical staff, the Staff Clinician/Training Director also provides direct clinical service to students (including intake, walk-in, mandated assessment, individual, couples, group psychotherapy).

Departments within Student Life include Campus Assault, Response, and Education (CARE), Campus Housing, Club Sports, Community Life, Center for Women & Gender Equity, Counseling and Psychological Services, the Dean of Students, Intercultural Center, New Student & Family Programs, Public Safety & Transportation, Residential Experience, Recreational Sports, Student Involvement and Leadership, and the Student Health Center.

**This is a full-time, 10 month position


1. CLINICAL SERVICES: Provide intake evaluation, emergency response, crisis intervention, drop-in coverage, mandated

assessments, individual, couples, and group therapy. Special attention in clinical support to the needs of college students. Maintain and ensure up to date and competent record keeping. If licensed, maintain a CA license. APA and/or BBS Ethical Principles are reflected in all clinical services. Performs other clinical duties as needed. Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Demonstrate commitment to cultural humility and culturally sensitive care in working with students across a wide range of individual differences including: race, ethnicity, national origin, documentation status, religious and spiritual beliefs, gender, sexuality, physical and mental abilities, size and appearance, age, parenting status, and socio-economic status.

2. CONSULTATION AND OUTREACH: Actively contribute to department objectives for outreach, consultation, and training for college departments as well as campus workshops and programming Provide consultation to students, parents, faculty and staff. Participation in occasional evening and weekend programs. Provide support, as needed, for emergent situations on campus (i.e., traumatic events). Represent CAPS at College events as requested.

3. ADMINISTRATIVE: Contribute to program planning to meet the changing needs of the Center. Assist in developing policies and

procedures as needed. Attend and participate in direct reports, senior staff, and all staff meetings. Serve as liaison for TimelyCare

services, including performing regular review of TimelyCare clinical notes, and as needed, reaching out to students and informing Student Life of student needs. Work with senior staff to continue our emphasis on providing quality services to campus community, and providing quality training experiences (including didactic presentations and consultation) for trainees.

4. Other Duties as Assigned

Other duties as assigned. Works in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and culturally diverse campus environment and develops effective relationships within the division of Student Life and with other areas of the College. Some weekend and evening hours required.
Education: REQUIRED: Ph.D., Psy. D. in Counseling/Clinical Psychology, OR AMFT, MSW

Experience: (years required and applicable field of experience): 3 years minimum college/university counseling. Experience in brief therapy, crisis intervention, risk assessment, multi-cultural therapy and outreach, clinical supervision, program development, data analysis, assessment. Experience in treating eating disorders, sexual assault, and trauma/grief response.

Skills/Abilities: (e.g. computer skills, written & verbal skills, trades, laws, procedures, technical)

Highly developed skills in evaluation, crisis intervention, brief therapy; an understanding of mental health and developmental needs of traditional aged undergraduate college students, the ability to provide culturally sensitive therapy to students with diverse cultural backgrounds. Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with and respond to multiple constituencies. Ability to work with faculty and staff. Demonstrated ability to use computerized record keeping system.

Licenses & Certifications (e.g. CPA, RN, etc.): REQUIRED: Ph.D., Psy. D. in Counseling/Clinical Psychology,


PREFERRED: 2 years of licensure strongly preferred

Other Requirements: (e.g. travel, weekend/evening work) Some evening and weekend duties; understanding role of consultant to the College; rotated duties for triage and after-hours on-call.
