Saint Mary's College MFA in Dance Program seeks to hire a per-course adjunct faculty member to teach PERFA 525: Advanced Modern Dance in Summer 2024.
June 3rd-June 21st M/W 4:45-6:15pm Fridays 3:45-5:15pm (No class on Wednesday June 19th)
Position Description:

The MFA in Dance is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach the movement course on campus during the 2024 Summer term which happens during the month of June. The instructor must be available to teach from June 3rd-21st in person on campus in Moraga. This course will be taught as a movement course in the instructor's technique of study. We encourage faculty to apply from different movement backgrounds including those who specialize in non-western forms.

Course Description:

This course is an in-person course which meets for three weeks in person on campus. Students receive training in a movement style and are graded on participation, effort and appropriate reflection assignments related to the course.

The MFA in Dance educates the whole dance artist. Through the lens of a liberal arts curriculum, the program's values are shaped by the quest for truth, authenticity and community building in a holistic model that integrates mind, body and spirit. The MFA in Dance offers two unique MFA degrees in dance: Creative Practice and Design & Production. Creative Practice has a low-residency option and the Design & Production MFA is the only one in the country specifically for dance.

The position is hiring for a modern dance teacher. The idea is to create a versatile dancer, one that can teach and perform in a variety of styles.



Qualifications:
Qualifications: Applicants must have an MA, MFA or other terminal degree in the appropriate field or equivalent knowledge and experience in the field of dance or creative practice. They must demonstrate a strong commitment to student-centered teaching in the liberal arts tradition, and show evidence of teaching effectiveness among graduate students. Prior teaching experience and/or professional experience is preferred.

Applicants must reside in California.

Salary: $2,482 - $3,436 depending on qualifications.

The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
