What Your Job Will Be Like:

As the Model Based Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Develop MBSE models in modeling tools such as Vitech GENESYS, MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler, MATLAB System Composer, and/or Simulink
  • Model weapon system architectures (Requirements, Behavior, Physical, Interface, Verification, Testing, Processes, etc.)
  • Perform SE activities such as Concept of Operations DevelopmentI, Requirements Analysis and Definition, Trade Studies, Design Analysis, Interface Design & Assessment, Integrated System Test Planning, System Verification & Validation, and Configuration Management
  • Generate model-based Systems Engineering artifacts (reports, diagrams, tables, analysis dashboards, web interfaces, etc.) to support program deliverables.
  • Develop code to enhance the application of these models and their tools interoperability
  • Support integrating physical and virtual activities in a digital environment
  • Apply critical thinking using a diverse set of skills and expertise
  • Work across the Sandia Systems Engineering lifecycle in phases ranging from feasibility study to retirement
  • Partner with multiple organizations and functional areas (Systems, Components, Qualification, Nuclear Safety, Use Control, Quality, JTAs, H&T Gear, Trainers, Requirements, Electrical, Mechanical, Modeling and Simulation and many more)
  • Integrate MBSE models and processes into the broader Digital Engineering Ecosystem (DEE)
  • Conduct technical reviews of models and modeling artifacts with SMEs to improve and validate the models
  • Research and Develop advanced Systems Engineering modeling capabilities to support program needs

Hybrid work schedules are available but due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to primarily work onsite in Albuquerque.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant STEM field is required plus (5) years of relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance and other caveats or equivalent clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant STEM field
  • Experience with MBSE tools (Vitech GENESYS, MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler, MATLAB System Composer, and/or Simulink) and languages (SysML)
  • Experience with engineering design (taking an idea from concept through demonstration or delivery)
  • Familiarity with requirements engineering concepts including elicitation, analysis, specification, and management
  • Familiarity with NW Product Realization Teams, 6.X Product Realization process or Product Definition system (PRIME/IMS)
  • Broad experience in applying analytical methods for Strategic Partnering Program (SPP) and Strategic Partnering Intelligence Program (SIPP) projects
