What Your Job Will Be Like:

This is a highly collaborative work environment where successful candidates will create innovative solutions for difficult technical problems and acquire increasing levels of responsibility.

In this dynamic role, you may be performing a number of engineering functions, from generating design concepts, developing and testing electronics prototypes, guiding technology maturation efforts, and qualifying innovative designs. You will be supporting engineering efforts across all phases of product realization from concept development through full-rate production.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Integrate radar subassemblies and coordinate with subassembly engineers to evolve and characterize the designs to support radar level requirements
  • Support design reviews for microwave, analog, and digital subassemblies to ensure designs support radar level requirements
  • Develop and execute test plans to characterize and qualify radar level assemblies
  • Support definition of environmental testing of radar level assemblies and assist in data review
  • Participate in integration activities with other engineers and product realization teams
  • Present at technical design reviews
  • Support development of test requirements for radar level acceptance testing at the production agency
  • Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary group of engineers in the design and qualification of electrical components and making technical decisions on the direction of the designs
  • Work closely with the production agency to resolve any issues through development and production

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM. Some travel is required for this position (up to 25%).

Qualifications We Require:

  • Masters in relevant STEM field: OR equivalent (BS + 4 years)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience with high consequence electronics applications (e.g. space, defense applications, medical, etc.)
  • Experience in radar system design and/or analysis
  • Experience with mixed signal, high speed digital, RF/Microwave, and analog hardware design including schematic capture and layout
  • Experience with commercial RF/microwave circuit simulation and design tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST, Momentum, Microwave Office, etc.
  • Familiarity with signal processing techniques and applications
  • Experience or familiarity with test development and data processing software such as Python, Matlab/Simulink, NI LabView, NI TestStand, etc.
  • Familiarity with general test and measurement equipment and RF test equipment (network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
  • Design for manufacturing experience
  • Experience in production of electronic components and systems
  • Experience with design techniques for radiation environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with internal organizations and external production facilities and suppliers
  • Good communication and documentation skills

About Our Team:

The Radar Fuzing Department is responsible for design, development, qualification and production support of Radar Fuzes and RF technologies for both gravity and reentry-based NW systems. This includes overseeing RFIC design, development, qualification, and production support for Radar Fuzes. A current example of a Radar Fuze is the Joint Radar Module supporting the B61-12 LEP, W88 Alt 370, and Mk21 AFA and soon to be modified to support the W93 program. Essential capabilities include: advanced RF and radar architectures, RFIC design and test, RF and radar testing, product qualification, production realization, and radar stockpile stewardship.
