What Your Job Will Be Like:

The Microsystems, Engineering, Science and Applications (MESA) Post Fab Test Operations Department is seeking a Microelectronic/Semiconductor Test Technologist to support microelectronics testing activities ranging from sort testing of semiconductor wafers to testing Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) production package parts in support of delivery for SNL mission applications.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Work independently to operate several different testing tools simultaneously in support of customer delivery schedules and engineering needs.
  • Run complicated testing equipment, including tasks which require great manual dexterity and the ability to manipulate very small parts without causing damage.
  • Complete procedure development, equipment troubleshooting, and high-rigor production delivery.
  • Perform a diverse set of various duties in support of production and test engineering needs.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite, 3rd shift, Thursday – Sunday, 8pm – 6am.

Qualifications We Require:

  • High School Diploma plus three (3) years related experience
  • Experience operating machinery or process equipment
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience with one or more of the following manual load microelectronic test equipment:
  • EXA3000
  • Teradyne Catalyst
  • DiamondX
  • Thermal Forcing Units (TFU’s) for the testing of packaged parts
  • Developing, optimizing, or documenting operating processes
  • Experience with FactoryWorks manufacturing semiconductor system
  • Handling small parts using vacuum wands
  • Ability to prepare procedures for tool operation
  • Experience working with customers and vendors
  • Active DOE L clearance or other equivalent active security clearance such as, DOD Secret

About Our Team:

The Post-Fab Technologies Group is part of Sandia’s Microsystems, Engineering, Science, and Applications Center (MESA). The MESA Test Operations department (5233) provides product development, pre-production, and production expertise/oversight for the testing, qualification, and delivery of high reliability packaged semiconductor products with applications spanning microelectronics, MEMS, photonic systems, and RFICs. The department works closely with customers to ensure their technical and programmatic needs are fully understood in order to deliver Mark Quality products for our Nuclear Deterrence (ND) customers as well as provide scientific, engineering and production test support to a wide range of projects and programs within MESA.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
