Job Description Summary:

On a part-time basis, serves as support at events and mascot appearances in support of the mission of the Office of College Relations & Marketing.

Description of Duties and Tasks

MASCOT TEAM LEADER

1) Assist the R.B. the ACC Riverbat, the Official Mascot of Austin Community College at appearances and coordinate with clients to ensure event success.

2) Serve as the mascot team leader and representative of the District at events with the team on occasions when the Marketing Event Coordinator is not available.

3) Should use the department van safety to transport the mascot team to and from events or across the campus for projects.
4) Must be a good communicator with the ability to find out the purpose of the appearance and determine the mascot and team's role in the mission of that event.
5) Research and identify opportunities to grow the identity and presence of the mascot and the Riverbat brand to enhance College engagement in multicultural communities and areas within the District.

6) May need to perform as the mascot on special occasions.
7) Assist in managing the official Riverbat social media accounts and create engaging posts and moments that will help gain positive exposure.
8) Oversee, at the direction of the Marketing Events Coordinator, mascot costume operations including care, cleaning, maintenance, etc.
9) Provide support for community and team appearances including, but not limited to sponsors, charities, media, private functions, and other events.
10) Maintain merchandise and departmental items as needed.

EVENTS

1) Assist with preparation, packing, transportation, and setup of event-related items to events hosted by the Office of College Relations & Marketing.

2) Provide on-site support during events as needed, addressing some issues that may arise that could disrupt a positive experience for attendees.

3) Establish and maintain relationships with community partners.

4) Transport and distribution of goods between campuses and in-district locations in support of campaigns.

5) Assists with the promotion of events through various channels including calendar listings, email campaigns, and other marketing initiatives.

6) Gather and prepare event and appearance materials in advance of events and unpacking of material post-appearance or event.

7) Maintain inventory of all mascot-related merchandise.

Knowledge

* Demonstrated knowledge of Austin Community College and its mission.

* Experience as a mascot, preferably at a high school, collegiate, or professional level, and knowledge of the role and purposes of a college mascot.
* Knowledge of marketing and advertising.

*Previous experience in event support or logistics is a plus.

Technology Skills

*Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.

*Extensive knowledge of the use of social media for promotion and branding including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

*Experience with Google products, such as Sheets, Docs, and Drive.

*Experience with Canva is a plus.

Required Work Experience

* Experience as a mascot, preferably at a collegiate or professional level.

Required Education

* High school diploma or GED and some college coursework.

Preferred Education

* Associate degree or higher or progress toward completion.

Special Requirements

* Valid Texas Driver's license and good driving record.

Physical Requirements

* Must be in good physical condition to wear and heavy costume and stand or walk for extended periods.
* Must be able to perform mascot actions; subject to standing, walking, jumping, kneeling, hopping, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, waving arms/extending arms, and dancing while in costume.
* Ability to perform indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions.
* Ability to lift and move 50 pounds without assistance.
* Must have good posture and be of the appropriate height and weight to wear the costume comfortably.

$22.00/Hour
