Qualifications:
EES 210 Environmental Science is an entry-level course reviewing the physical, chemical, biological, geological and cultural dimensions of environmental problems, which surveys the historical roots of these problems, then considers components such as population pressure, air and water pollution, global change, desertification, deforestation et al. An introduction to ecological principles is provided. The Laboratory for this course meets weekly for 2 hours and covers issues such as population, resources, energy, climate change, pollution, and human health. This course meets the Scientific Understanding requirement of the Core Curriculum and therefore students will: Demonstrate an understanding of scientific concepts, principles, and theories that explain the natural and physical world; and Collect, analyze, and interpret empirical data gathered in a laboratory, field setting, or from science databases.

This laboratory will be taught in person on the Moraga campus during the 2024 Fall term on Tuesday from 3:30 - 5:30 pm

In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular office hours (a minimum of one hour per week) in order to provide students with support outside of the classroom.

The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, or Earth Systems. Candidates should have a successful record of teaching experience at the undergraduate level Preference will be given to those who have previously taught the course, EES 210, EES 092 or EES 09L.

Candidates must reside in California.

The salary range for this position is $4,966 - $6,872 (2 units) and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
