General Information:

The College of Education (CoE) at James Madison University is seeking a full-time, 12-month Data Manager with a passion for problem-solving, innovating solutions, and the pursuit of learning both independently and as part of a team. A successful candidate will have an equity mindset, and a commitment to student success to support initiatives within the unit. Be an individual who has a knack for project management and prioritization. As we undertake new initiatives aimed at increasing program options and a pipeline of highly qualified educators and leaders, we continually encounter new projects in need of data management support.

The successful candidate will have SQL, analytics and project management skills to support retrieving, merging, basic analysis, and reporting of data for the unit. They will support recurring and ad-hoc data requests from UE units. The candidate will be required to query against a variety of data sources using SQL language, merge different data sources together, and develop reports of results for planning and decision-making as it relates to unit and university strategic plans for undergraduate and graduate education, as well as external initiatives.



Duties and Responsibilities:

-Provide leadership and technical assistance in creating systems to store and report on data related to admission, field experience, licensure, program improvement, and accreditation.
-Provide technical support for the College of Education’s databases and reports.
-Design, develop, and maintain university-supported web applications supporting admission and field experience.
-Design and create queries for the university’s student information system.
-Facilitate the development and availability of training resources for the use of supported data management systems.
-Represent CoE on university technology initiatives and committees.
-Serve as a backup to CoE Computing Coordinator for end-user computing support.



Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
-Experience with reading and writing queries in SQL query.
-Experience with Microsoft-related products (e.g. SharePoint, Teams).
-Experience with developing data visualizations and dashboards in Tableau.

Additional Considerations:
-Experience with PeopleSoft Student Administration System.
-Knowledge of coding/programming.
-Experience with listserv administration, Linux and an AMP web stack.
