Job Description

Health Sciences Information Technology is seeking a Linux Administrator to support the systems of the Health Sciences schools and research.

In this position you will work with a team that provides computing capabilities and in-depth support for educational and research applications.

To accomplish this, you will need an extensive background in Linux server administration and issue resolution along with strong hardware/software troubleshooting skills. Also, knowledge and understanding of best practices and IT operations.

Responsibilities:

Perform Linux Administration duties.
Perform installations and patching of Linux operating systems.
Assist customers with the installation and updates of applications.
Install software and troubleshoot software install issues.
Monitor systems and preform hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance and security updates
Qualifications:

Proven track record of problem solving using strong critical thinking, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently.
Ability to work seamlessly within a team as an active contributor.
Strong verbal and written customer service and communications skills.
Experience writing documentation for internal processes and customer facing products and services.
Job Summary
Installs, configures, and maintains systems and associated infrastructure at the enterprise level. Assists in designing architecture and planning deployment of complex servers and associated infrastructure. Evaluates and recommends effective tools for system and infrastructure maintenance and support. Architects and evaluates system enhancements to be implemented and serves as escalation and a top-tier point of contact for complex installation and upgrades.

Physical Effort
Manual dexterity to manipulate hardware, ability to move equipment, communicate with users, and walk to various campus locations. Must be able to lift and transport computer equipment weighing up to 30 pounds to various campus locations.
