Job Description

General Information:

The University Health Center (UHC) provides a comprehensive array of health care services and health education programs to JMU students. Included in our health care services are several medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs that provide services for more than 30,000 patient encounters a year. UHC practices evidence-based medicine in a confidential, inclusive environment.



Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage all customer service aspects of the UHC, including but not limited to supervising full- and part-time staff, overseeing check-in and check-out operations, and handling all deposit activities.
• Coordinate with various campus departments to ensure patients are able to access the UHC without issues.
• Serve as the Merchant Department Head for the UHC, ensuring compliance with JMU regulations for receiving and processing payments.
• Provide back-up assistance for scheduling and health information activities as needed.



Qualifications:

• Experience working in a health care setting
• Electronic Health Records system experience (ideally Medicat)
• Basic accounting skills
• Knowledge of current JMU policies and procedures, to include cash handling and the acceptance of FLEX and credit card payments, is beneficial but not required
• Demonstrated ability to be highly organized, efficient, and show attention to detail
• Experience handling sensitive information while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and exercising discretion
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff
• Prior supervision experience
