Job Description

Summary

The lab is seeking self-motivated individual to work in a laboratory at the Jan and Dan Duncan NRI focused on the underlying genetics and molecular mechanisms of genetic neurological disorders. Technician will assist in several projects including  Alzheimer disease (AD) by discovery phosphorylation events which lead to moderate reduction of the disease-driving proteins tau.

Job Duties

  • Provides assistance in general lab management including organizing, allocating, and managing general lab supplies.
  • Provides technical support for conducting laboratory research experiments and document results.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data with PI.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Attends departmental seminars, attends weekly lab meetings/journal club meetings.
  • Contributes to presentations of lab meeting on a bi-yearly basis, and assist PI in preparing yearly progress report to funding agency.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
