Job Summary
Huntsman Mental Health Institute is looking for a creative, motivated, and responsive Social Media Specialist to create engaging, thoughtful and balanced content representing the best of the academic Institute.

This individual will be a key player on the Huntsman Mental Health Institute Marketing, Communications and Outreach Team (the team). You will collaborate with all members of the team, and with University of Utah Public Affairs’ social media staff to share relevant content across all social channels. You will plan, create, edit and post high quality content designed to engage a broad social media audience and grow our followers. As a member of the Team, you will perform a variety of tasks including writing, photography, videography, editing, and captioning – while using good judgment and strong interpersonal skills to plan and execute marketing/communications initiatives. We seek an individual who is a self-starter, comfortable in a dynamic environment, collaborating to accomplish team and Institute goals.

Responsibilities
Prepare and manage monthly social media calendar for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn
Produce and curate social media content to engage users, increase impressions and grow channel networks
Create and/or modify images and graphics for social media purposes
Script, film, edit and post video content for social platforms
Strategize to build and grow digital community through social media channels
Manage social media ad budget
Optimize content delivery strategies, build content topics, tailor content to various platforms, target specific audiences, and make editorial decisions
Manage social listening and identify content topics, social trends, and conversations to help increase visibility
Compile and share third-party content, host social live events, respond to direct messages
Build partnerships to grow social networks
Respond to reputation risks by taking appropriate action and recommend solutions to minimize harm
Compile data, analyze and report on social media insights
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.

Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.

Preferences
· Two years of progressively responsible experience in social media content creation and management
· Proven experience in creating dynamic, creative, stimulating social media content
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Ability to work independently as a self-starter, and as a responsive, flexible contributing member of a team
· Creative mindset with an eye for design and a passion for creating engaging content
· Willingness to embrace new strategic plans in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
· Proficient with social media style graphic design, audio and video production
