Coastal Carolina University is seeking applications for the full-time position of Assistant Director of Campus Programs & Traditions.
The Assistant Director of Campus Programs and Traditions must have a passion for working with creative students, and excitement towards contributing to a positive, entrepreneurial, and vibrant campus experience. Reporting to the Senior Director of Student Involvement and Leadership, the Assistant Director will work directly with students in developing and implementing programs, presentations, and events that positively contribute to student engagement and campus pride. The Assistant Director, in partnership with the broader student engagement team, will support and harness student advocacy, energy, and enthusiasm towards the development of an engaging and fun campus experience. This position will also be responsible for supervising the student positions as part of the Teal & Bronze Society and supporting the Coordinator of Campus Programs and Traditions to supervise and advise the Campus Activities Board.

Student Services Program Coordinator II (CB70/61123200), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range is $37,860.00 (minimum) to $53,957.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. This position requires evening and weekend hours as assigned by supervisor, as well as accompanying students on overnight travel.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Student Development and Advising: Manages program oversight and student development initiatives. This includes developing effective policies and processes related to risk management for student organizations, financial oversight including budgeting, marketing and communication for various groups, vendor and donor relationships, student travel, securing technological resources, inventory management, and document review including pre-event planning, education, recruitment and retention, and other administrative tasks as required. Serves as the primary advisor and supervisor to the Teal and Bronze Society. Serves as the secondary advisor and supervisor of the Coastal Activities Board, coordinating and implementing student programming board initiatives throughout the academic year.
Campus Engagement and Traditions: Fulfills administrative responsibilities for the Campus Programs and Traditions area, including program assessment, stakeholder outreach, and relationship building with Facilities, Department of Public Safety, Residence Life, Athletics, and other campus partners. Implements existing campus-wide traditions, such as homecoming, senior week, finals week, halftime activities, Founder’s Week, Teal Tuesdays, Holiday Lighting, and College Colors Day. Co-Leads with Orientation, Transitions, and Family Programs to execute Teal Nation. Welcome events. Develop an overall strategy and vision to increase Coastal spirit and pride while reviewing and fully leveraging the history of the institution.
Strategic Planning and New Initiatives: Develops new traditions aimed at building community and shared experiences for students, faculty, and staff. Serves as a strategic planner responsible for proposing updates and modifications to the event portfolio. Conducts ongoing evaluations of current offerings and constituent needs. Communicates regularly with student organizations and campus departments for collaborative efforts to promote campus events and engagement opportunities. Works to create a robust calendar of events and gathers campus stakeholders to assist and execute events.
Marketing and Digital Presence: Oversight of the area’s website, including related student organization pages. Manages and maintains an active social networking presence through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other tools. Shows a strong passion for creativity, Overseeing the production of marketing materials for all events and programs in collaboration with the campus marketing and communications office. Utilizes project planning, meeting management, and organizational skills to oversee execution of the assigned events portfolio, managing production elements such as A/V needs, setup, facilities, staging, and other special considerations.
Customer Service and Supervision: Models, promotes, and ensures exceptional customer service delivery to all constituents, including faculty, staff, students, visitors, and the community at large. Supervises one professional staff member, providing guidance, support, and expectations, helping create a space for professional growth. Performs other duties as assigned, ensuring all constituent needs are handled in a professional, timely, and positive manner.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters in student personnel management/higher and postsecondary education or event management preferred. Experience as a supervisor/manager preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Familiarity of general risk management policies and experience in managing budgets; ability to plan and organize programs, develop publication materials, and effectively market services and programs; excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; professional knowledge applying student development theory to practice; demonstrated ability to independently and implement new programs; ability to work with a variety of constituents, solve problems quickly and professionally, anticipate needs, and communicate proactively. Knowledge about the college student experience, and how to communicate about that experience with parents and families. Excellent project management and time management skills. The ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and deadlines on an ongoing basis.
