The mission of the Augusta University Police Department is to promote a safe atmosphere in which the university's teaching, discovery, clinical care and service mission can be successful. This is accomplished through traditional and progressive law enforcement practices and strong community partnership.
Job Summary
The Special Projects Coordinator guides the department in data-informed decision-making to optimize operational efficiency and achieve the agency's mission. This position is responsible for implementing and improving related processes, products, services, and software through data analysis and system development. Significant involvement in Information Technology (ITS), Institutional Effectiveness (IE), and software/service vendors and serves as the key interface between the stakeholders of technologies/processes and office leadership. Administrate communications and systems for agency on University mobile app, emergency services app, agency webpages, and responsible for admin and maintenance of all operational programs and clients utilized by the agency. Assist in the content strategy for the university mobile app by the agency. This work is predominantly intellectual, requiring specialized knowledge and involves the exercise of discretion and judgment. Interaction with the Augusta Community, Administrative Staff, Vendors, the AU community, and other Public Safety personnel are fundamental to the quality of service provided by this position.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Device Operations
Responsible for ensuring devices are operational for use of Jag Alert for emergency situations as directed by the event, by Senior University Officials or by policies and procedures of the University.
Collaboration
Serve as the Local Agency Security Officer for CJIS compliance of the agency; coordinate with the other Data Governance roles. Ensure alignment with CJIS, GCIC, FBI, and AU Cyber standards.
Analysis
Develop ways in which all technologies can be used to their fullest potential in an effort to meet the ever-changing technology-oriented needs of the agency and AU community; Help find solutions using these technologies for problems as they are encountered as well as being proactive in new development; collaborate with peer institutions to gain additional knowledge that can be applied to improving our own processes; Counsel and train staff on processes.
Business analysis
Provide business analysis (e.g. cost-benefit analysis, documentation, technological capabilities), workflow design, and functional support of the systems utilized by the agency, streamline processes, and improve delivery of services to all stakeholders; define and document project requirements and performs workflow design and training that maximizes the investment in these systems.
Technology
Identify, manage, administrate, and support all the processes, procedures, and interfaces involving agency technology (ARMS, BEAST, GEARS, RAVE, ETC); locate and correct potential issues; coordinate software implementation/maintenance/upgrades (testing, data conversion, data cleanup, user acceptance testing, and training); and, to improve agency efficiency. Serve as one of the go-to authorities when new ideas or projects are conceived that could leverage technologies.
Projects
Work with AU IT, Communications and Marketing, Hosting Services, Institutional Effectiveness, Cyber Security, Project Managers, Vendors, and various other entities to meet the needs of agency projects. Maintain knowledge and best practices of project management; documenting, tracking, and ensuring scope of project from beginning to end.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accrediting organization and a minimum of 5 years' experience.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 3 years' experience.
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 1 year experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age.
A valid driver's license is required.
Required Experience
Experience administering multi-faceted projects that require coordination and communication with various vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Experience in content analysis and creation, web design, accessibility standards, standard web practices, information systems, and related experience in project management.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, and other computer software. Ability to plan and coordinate work independently.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of needed tools and techniques appropriate to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of Project Management. Knowledge of the University policies and procedures related to Augusta University, to include the USG rules and regulations. Knowledge of NIBRS, Clery, CJIS, and UCR .
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Technical knowledge and skills in computer systems and databases, with the preferred ability to maintain computer systems relating to access and security controls, digital video systems, web base and other related computer applications.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F
Pay Band: B9
Salary: Minimum $23.46/hour - $25.26/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
