The Integral Program of Liberal Arts at Saint Mary's College of California invites applications for a part-time, per-course adjunct instructor for the Fall 2024. The Integral Program is a great books program with an all-required sequence of seminars and tutorials; all courses are built around student discussion. Integral students practice conversational inquiry into great texts illustrative of the main kinds of human thinking.
Saint Mary's College seeks to hire a per-course adjunct faculty member to teach INTEGRAL 100, Seminar I: Ancient Greek Texts, in the traditional undergraduate program in Fall 2024.
Mondays & Thursdays, 3:20 - 5:00 pm
This course will be taught in person on the Moraga campus.
Course Description:
Conversational and written inquiry into monumental texts from Greek antiquity, e.g.: Homer, Iliad, Odyssey; Aeschylus, Oresteia; Plato, Meno, Republic; Thucydides, Peloponnesian War; Aristophanes, Clouds.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or other terminal degree) in the candidate’s field required (ABDs may be considered). The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to and experience in student-centered teaching in the liberal arts and Great Books traditions and familiarity with the course content in the First-Year Integral Tutorials (either INTEG 120 and 121, 130 and 131, or 140). Qualified candidates from all scholarly disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Candidates must reside in California.
Salary: $9,929 - $13,774 depending on qualifications.
The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
