Summary

The section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology in the Department of Medicine is searching for candidate to be a part of Dr. Jason Mills\'s research operations. Research Technician II will participate in research projects studying the mechanisms of gastrointestinal cancer and their animal models. The position will be located in the Medical Center and is a full-time, on-site position.

Job Duties

  • Conducts mouse colony maintenance (weaning, tagging, ear-punching) and genotyping protocols, as well as general mouse handling and assistance with survival care and injections.
  • Conducts small animal husbandry, animal handling, and specific procedures.
  • Monitors and follows up with pink slips assigned by CCM.
  • Performs genotyping PCR to maintain transgenic mouse colonies used in projects, that includesimages of genotyping PCR gels and tabulation of genotyping results.
  • Works on data interpretation and analysis where needed.
  • Maintains basic records of experiments, methodologies, and test results in a log of work performed.
  • Navigates laboratory and vivarium environments to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Requests supplies and monitors inventory.
  • Performs other job-duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Organized, self-motivated, teamwork-oriented, works well under pressure, be able to multitask and has effective communication skills.
