Overview
Founded in 1946, the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is among the nation's oldest, most respected independent, nonprofit biomedical research institutes. OMRF is dedicated to understanding and developing more effective treatments for human diseases, focusing on critical research areas such as Alzheimer's disease, cancer, lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, and cardiovascular disease. OMRF follows an innovative cross-disciplinary approach to medical research and ranks among the nation's leaders in patents per scientist.
Located in Oklahoma City, a city that offers a dynamic and flourishing downtown area, with low cost of living, short commute times and a diversified economy, OMRF has been voted one of the Top Workplaces since the inception of the award. This achievement has been accomplished thanks to OMRF individuals who share a unified understanding that our excellence can only be fully realized with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to these values.

Responsibilities
The Nath Lab is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, hardworking, and organized team player to join our efforts as a Postdoctoral Scientist or Assistant Staff Scientist in understanding the genetic mechanisms of lupus, an autoimmune disease. Using whole genome searches, the Nath Lab has identified several genes and genetic variants associated with lupus susceptibility. They are also following up on several genetic loci with experiments to understand the specific functional effects of these lupus-associated genetic variants, using cell lines and patient-derived primary immune cells or tissues. This involves applying various modern techniques for studying features of three-dimensional (3D) genomic organization, such as 3C, Hi-C, ChIP-Seq, and genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9. The role involves analyzing human genetic and genomic data and developing computational methods, requiring a blend of computational skills, statistical knowledge, creativity, and biological insight. Key tasks include identifying novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers by investigating human genetic variation (GWAS, Next Gen Sequencing) and integrating GWAS summary results with other data types like eQTL, mQTL, and functional genomic annotations. Preference will be given to candidates with thorough knowledge and experience in GWAS data analysis. The candidate will also estimate heritability, perform Mendelian Randomization, and conduct fine mapping.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. (or expect to receive a doctoral degree soon). The successful candidate will investigate the functional effects of lupus-associated genetic variants identified through whole genome searches, utilizing cell lines and patient-derived primary immune cells or tissues. Collaboration with experimental and clinical scientists to address specific target mechanism questions with genomic insights is essential. This position demands a highly motivated, self-driven individual with excellent teamwork and organizational skills.
