Job Profile Summary

Under limited supervision, this frontline, student engagement position serves the Health Foundation of South Florida grant at Broward College to provide direct service and support to current Health Science Pathway students using a case management approach. Under direction from the Dean of Allied Health or the Dean, Nursing Administrator, the Health Science Pathway Retention Specialist will provide information regarding the College’s programs and services, facilitate student engagement in academic and career planning activities, student success skills, college policies and procedures, and student activities that contribute to retention. This is a temporary position with the possibility for annual renewal based on sustainability of the program.
This is a temporary position. The program is a 2-year program. The incumbent is subject to annual performance evaluations.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Eight years of relevant experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily - 45%: Provides support services for students to promote retention and academic success. Responsible for reviewing academic progression for Allied Health or Nursing students, making classroom appearances in the applicable classes each term (connecting in person when possible and virtually if necessary) with students at the request of the student, faculty member, CTE advisor, Associate Dean, or Dean or when academic progression is not as expected. Connects students with available resources directly, taking student to the source of the needed resource whenever possible. Serves as a liaison between students and resources, such as those offered by Seahawk Outreach Services
  • Daily - 20%: Collects, evaluates, and maintains student data and program data to assure that students are on track.
  • Semester Basis - 20%: Coordinates delivery of student success workshops, promoting workshops to students, liaison with faculty or other workshop providers.
  • Other - 10%: Facilitates student engagement in academic and career planning activities, student success skills, college policies and procedures, and student activities that contribute to retention.
  • Other - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.
