Responsibilities
The Krishnan Lab is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Part-Time Fish Technician to assist with the daily husbandry of Astyanax mexicanus (Mexican cavefish). The technician will be responsible for feeding, cleaning tanks, and maintaining the fish room environment to ensure the well-being of our fish stocks. This role is ideal for individuals interested in biological research, animal care, or gaining hands-on experience with a unique aquatic model organism.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily feedings of Astyanax cavefish according to the lab's established protocols.
  • Clean and wash fish tanks.
  • Assist in managing fish inventory, tracking breeding, and help with the overall upkeep and organization of the fish room.
  • Other related duties as necessary
    Qualifications
    High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Ability to follow protocols and work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to take direction, follow instructions and keep meticulous records. Ability to lift water containers (up to 9L tanks) and perform tasks requiring standing for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodation.
