Automotive teaching assistant - provides instructional support to a faculty.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Performs automotive program office duties in support of faculty, staff, and/or student efforts, including word processing, data entry, maintaining files, processing mail, and duplication.
  • Gathers, compiles, and enters data, producing routine reports and documents.
  • Produces handouts, fliers, newsletters, brochures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Operates automotive lab/shop equipment as necessary to support automotive instruction.

Knowledge

  • Automotive repair procedures and practices.
  • Automotive customer service techniques.

Skills

  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Maintaining an established work schedule.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills.
  • Entering data, maintaining files, and performing other clerical duties.
  • Effective customer-orientation when working with a multi-cultural population.

Technology Skills

  • Use a variety of automotive instructional support software including: spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
  • PowerPoint projector, automotive scan tools, lab scopes, DVOM's, automotive diagnostic equipment

Required Work Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of non-teaching, directly related automotive repair experience within the last 10 years.

Preferred Work Experience

  • 10 or more years of automotive repair experience.
  • Currently working in an automotive repair shop
  • Automotive program teaching experience

License Requirements

  • Must be ASE Automobile Master certified (A1 - A8).
  • Must have a current valid driver's license

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in a standard office or similar environment.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

Safety

  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
