Job Description
The Department of Physics at Creighton University invites applications for a full-time Research Associate in the Laser-Cooled Atoms Group. The goals of the group are to study atomic interactions of ultracold potassium atoms. This includes using spin-dynamics in a potassium-41 Bose-Einstein condensate to understand how highly-entangled states can enhance precision measurements.
The research associate will benefit from interaction with a diverse group of researchers as part of the Emergent QUAntum materials and TEchnologies (EQUATE) collaboration. This interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration is focused on leveraging quantum mechanics to understand and build the next generation of quantum materials. The EQUATE collaboration includes 20 research groups from across Nebraska.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research at Creighton University and may also assist in guiding student research projects. The candidate must have an M.S. in physics. Prior experience in ultracold atoms is preferred but is not required. The candidate will have the opportunity to travel to national and/or international conferences to present this work.
Qualifications
· Masters of Science degree in physics
· Excellent scientific communication skills (written and verbal)
