Position Description

As a Network Technician on the Network Operations team, you will have the chance to help build and support Harvard Medical School's mission-critical network. We are looking for a passionate person that wants to build great things, is both innovative and methodical, is team focused and understands that we are in the business of providing a great customer experience to our research community, students, faculty and staff. In this role, we expect you to have knowledge and hands-on experience with networking systems. We would look to you to help manage and maintain wired and wireless infrastructure, as well as assist IT support staff with network requests and troubleshooting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Day to day network jack, wireless, and end user troubleshooting
• Liaison for wiring vendor
• Liaison for tier 1 troubleshooting for CSG/End users
• Track & prepare for upcoming power/cooling outages that may impact network closets.
• Realtime wired and wireless troubleshooting
• Participate in the weekly network team ticket queue manager rotation
• Maintain and update Infoblox DNS/DCHP
• Maintain network closet (cabling, UPS, power, cleanliness, switch port availability, etc)
• Network registration troubleshooting and registration
• Rack, stack and configure network hardware where needed
• Participate in a 24X7 on-call rotation

The Technology:

• Network Technologies: 802.3ad, 802.1Q, Cisco VPC, LACP
• Network Monitoring and Management: Infoblox, Cisco ISE, Cisco Prime, Arista Cloudvision, Splunk, Statseeker, Scrutinizer.
• Hardware: Cisco 3750/3850, 4500, Nexus, 7k, 9k, Cisco ASR, Cisco 9800 Wireless Controllers.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience, required.
• Five plus years of IT experience, and 3-5+ years relevant industry experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

• Commitment to customer service; ability to work in a demanding, fast paced environment; record of keeping abreast of industry trends and changes in technologies; team orientation, flexibility.
• Strong organizational skills, communication skills (written, oral and presentation); a concern for accuracy, details and quality.

Work Format Details

This position is based primarily on-campus, in Massachusetts. This may include in-person during emergency situations (if applicable). Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
