Laboratory Helper - Part-time
Job Description
Summary
The Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, is looking to hire a reliable and organized laboratory helper. The laboratory helper will primarily support Dr. Maya Balakrishnan's research mission.
The team researches behavioral patterns and disease determinants among patients with chronic liver disease. The position is currently part-time at 4 hours/week, with the opportunity to grow. This position is a good match for people interested in psychology, social sciences, public health, or medicine as a long term career goal. If time allows, the candidate is encouraged to take a more active role in research project discussion, planning, data recording, and presentation.
Job Duties
- Prepares and organizes laboratory equipment such as metal instruments, sinks, and tables.
- Carries out literature reviews.
- Manages data collection, entry, and storage.
- Recruits and consents patients into studies.
- Assists with study procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- No experience Required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of the first two year undergraduate studies.
- Fluency in Spanish (both spoken and written).
